SYNOPSIS: Battle Montgomery just woke up and man is she pissed off. Four strangers wake up in an abandoned undergound lab without a clue of who they are and how they got there. Forced to trust each other, they set out on a journey for answers that takes them from the desert of the American Southwest to the northern coast of Scotland to the mountains of Slovakia. Along the way, mysterious operatives determined to learn the secret of the technology that saved their lives hunt them at every turn. Will they be stopped before they can recover their own identities and restore their memories?
UPDATE(10/27/15): In development hell. Well, not really. That just sounds cooler and more provocative than “I haven’t gotten around to it yet.” OK, that’s a lie too. I would’ve loved to put Black Alpha into production right after Shepperton went on sale, but there were two things holding me back.
First, the initial story arc takes over a dozen issues to tell and that requires more funding than I had available at the time. I didn’t want to get it half done and need to drop it. The other issue is that I haven’t found the right artist to create the art. Another lie! Actually, an ex-colleague of mine named Dave Shovlin produced a few pages from issue 1 about five years ago. His style was not at all what I had in mind for the book, but when I saw the fantastic style that Dave applied to the characters and the setting, I knew it was the way to go. The problem is that Dave embarked on a successful career as a multi-talented artist out west, and didn’t have time to do the book.
That said, I still love the story and plan to put this project into production. I have 2 issues scripted and another 12 plotted out. While Dubious Tales is in production, I am furiously scripting the rest of the story and getting it ready for art production next year.
